Christmas!

Firstly I would like to thank Angela and Elaine of Lainey's Stitching Hoose fame for my GORGEOUS Christmas gifts.  Unfortunately my camera is broken so I can't show any pictures.

Angela and I decided to exchange Christmas gifts this year and I was thrilled to receive a flatfold from Angela of CCN Happy Holidays ornament from the JCS 2012 Magazine. Thank you Angela I absolutely love it and look forward to displaying it for many years to come.

I stitched Angela a Debbie Draper Design called Stitching Friends.  I am pleased to say Angela was delighted with it.  I want to thank Sally for lending me the chart.

I was very surprised to receive a gift from Lainey who stitched me a gorgeous Lizzie Kate design from this year's Tiny Tidings.  Thank you so much Lainey I am so thrilled with it and I look forward to putting on my Christmas tree for years to come.

I am sorry if I haven't left many comments on your blogs.  I have spent the last few weeks poorly with a bad cold and then over Christmas itself I managed to pick up the stomach bug that is going around as did my youngest son so Christmas has been a bit of a sorry affair but we are all on the mend now.  I actually feel quite human again yay!!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all who read and comment on my blog and would like to wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

Until next time, happy stitching

Lots to Show!

First up is my last TUSAL for 2012.  I think there is a lot of threads in it and a good selection of colours.  I think Daffycat is thinking of doing this again next year and I for one will be joining.

Next up is my progress on Haed's Mini Be Good.  Unfortunately due to Christmas preparations, I haven't touched a needle all week so although I had hoped to get some more done I didn't.

In the last week it was Sally's birthday and I love finding a design to stitch for Sally.  This year I stitched a sheep from Candy Cane Wishes.  It is stitched on 28ct mushroom jobelan using DMC threads.  I finished it as a flat ornament.

Lastly my Stitching Sister, Angela, and I decided to do an private ornament exchange and we decided this week to open them.  I am absolutely thrilled with the design Angela stitched for me.  It is one of my favourite Lizzie Kate designs that I have seen Angela finish before and adored it and am so lucky to have one of my own now.  Thank you Angela.

This is the design I stitched for Angela.  It is a Plum Pudding freebie that I stitched after I saw a conversion on a blog whose details I can no longer find.  I thought this was a gorgeous conversion and perfect for Angela as it is a Snowman, one of her favourite things and mine, and blue, one of Angela's favourite colours and mine.  I am so pleased Angela liked it.  Again it is stitched on 28ct mushroom jobelan using DMC threads and backed with the fabric you can see in the background which I think is gorgeous.

I told you I had lots to share lol.  I am going to try and stitch tonight on my Ornament SAL with Angela that we are going to continue with next year.

Until next time, happy stitching

Round Robin Return / Friday Finishing Frenzy

My Round Robin has returned home.  It looks gorgeous and I want to thank Angela, Elisa, Lisa and Michelle SO very much for stitching on my robin and for letting me stitch on theirs.  I really enjoyed my first Round Robin.  Thank you girls for making it such an enjoyable round robin.  I still have to finish the last block and then will get it framed.

Lizzie Kate 6 Fat Snowmen

I have also had another finishing frenzy.  The first one is Little House Needleworks Cardinal Winter that I stitched earlier in the year.  I stitched it on 28ct mushroom evenweave using the recommended DMC threads except for 712 which I swapped for White.  It is badly finished as a flat hanging ornament.

Little House Needleworks Cardinal Winter

I also finished Lizzie Kate's Snowman 10 again which I finished earlier in the year.  It is stitched on 14ct blue marble aida using the recommended DMC threads.  Again I finished this as a flat ornament and I think it looks great and turned out much better than Cardinal Winter.

Lizzie Kate Snowman 10

I also finished another stitched piece but can't show that as it is a gift for someone who reads my blog.

I have been making good progress on my Heaven and Earth Design Mini Be Good but will show a picture of that next week as I am hoping to continue with it after writing my Christmas cards and wrapping some presents.  I have managed about six hundred stitches which doesn't seem a lot but I am pleased with it as the page is rather daunting as it contain a lot of confetti stitches.

Until next time, happy stitching

Spoooooooooky!

This is the first block on my Halloween SAL with Angela which we started on 31st October 2012.  I only managed to get a small amount done as I was away on holiday and poorly.  I finished this block today.  I am stitching Lizzie Kate's Boo Club and Angela is stitching Halloween Rules.  The plan is to do one block a month from now until it is finished.  I am stitching it on 16ct Pewter Aida using DMC threads.

I have had a few days off from work this week and have been Christmas shopping with my mum and sister.  We had a lovely time and managed to get most of our Christmas presents.  I just have the boys' main presents to get now.  I usually have my decorations up by now but I am getting a new Christmas tree so will hopefully get it done by the end of this week.

I have changed my blog template to red, a little bit of Christmas for my readers.

I am off now to do some Christmas stitching, not quite sure what yet though.

Until next time, happy stitching

Finishing Frenzy

After I finished my secret stitching I decided to have a finishing frenzy yesterday, well for me anyway.  I finished four items I have stitched recently.  Unfortunately two of which I can't show you but I will show you what I can.

First up is a very old freebie I found printed off in my drawer of freebies.  It is my finish for my Ornament SAL with Angela.  It is a Lizzie Kate design stitched on a mystery evenweave using DMC threads.  I backed it with the fabric June sent me which I thought was perfect.  I did try to finish this so you could see the fabric at the front as well but couldn't quite work it out.

Next up is a Blue Ribbon design which I stitched a little while ago from a JCS Magazine.  I did manage to get a little bit of a of a border on the side but I am not sure I have done it right but is only for me so it doesn't really matter.  I think I may have cracked the ladder stitch for closing at least I understand the theory now I just need more practise.

I do have some more finishes to do but I think four in a day is enough, well for me anyway.  I think I have a couple left, one of which is a gift.

I am stitching on a SAL with Angela this week but will tell you more about that later.

Until next time, happy stitching

Elisa's RR / TUSAL / IHSW

It was International Hermit and Stitch weekend this weekend and although I didn't get to stitch as much as I would have liked I did get my block on Elisa's RR finished.  This is my block from the top of the lady's hat upwards.

This is the whole design which is now going back to Elisa to finish the top bit of the design.  I hope you like Elisa.

Lastly, and late again, because I forget to post mid week when it is time for the Tusal, my Tusal.

I am off to stitch a Christmas present now and hopefully I will get to stitch my monthly ornament SAL with Angela too, if I can get enough stitchy time in this week.

Until next time, happy stitching

Ariadne SAL

After finishing L*K Halloween ABCs it was time to get HAED Ariadne out for the SAL weekend.  I do try to stitch on her for a week rather than just the weekend so probably got her out on Wednesday.  Quite pleased with my progress but of course would have liked time to do more and finish the page.

Ariadne by Rachel Anderson charted by Heaven and Earth Designs
Stitched on 18ct Magic Guide Aida

I'll let you into a little secret - Ariadne has the odd grey hair!  The last 1000 stitches I had left are all confetti stitches hence the reason I didn't get the page finished.

This week I will be working on Elisa's RR which will be my last one but it has been fun.

Until next time, happy stitching

ABCs Finished!

I have finally finished Lizzie Kate's Halloween ABCs.  I was determined I wasn't going to post another progress picture it was going to be a finished picture.  It is stitched on 32ct Dirty Belfast Linen using recommended Crescent Colours and DMC threads.  I loved the colours of this one but don't like the linen, I really struggled with it sometimes.  I have managed to find a cheap black frame to put it in, although it is a bit of a tight squeeze but for 99p I am not going to worry too much lol.

Thank you for your comments on my last post, they are very much appreciated.  We had a lovely break away a bit chilly but otherwise okay except for the fact that I had a bad cold so didn't do as much as I would have liked but nonetheless it was nice to be away from home.

Until next time, happy stitching

Sunday 28 October 2012

Is it November yet?

I will be truly glad to see the back of October.  It has been one of those months.  After my husband having his appendix out rather suddenly I thought that that was as bad as October could get.  How wrong was I?  I was just getting ready to take my sons to school on Tuesday morning when I heard what I thought was a tap running in the bathroom.  I sent my youngest son upstairs to turn said tap off.  He came flying downing the stairs to tell me water was squirting out of the back of the sink, it had sprung a leak.  What we actually had was a burst water pipe.  I ran upstairs tried to get it to stop, hair dripping, glasses misting whilst my eldest son phoned my dad who came to the rescue to turn off the water.  The kitchen ceiling dripped for over an hour and the plumber came out and has now replaced my bathroom room and kitchen ceiling.  So all is well again but I will be glad to see the back of October.

I have managed to get a bit of stitching in amongst all the excitement but I have done a LOT of frogging too.  I decided to stitch on one of my long term wips, Lizzie Kate's Halloween ABCs.  I haven't quite got it finished but I am hoping to get it done by the end of next week although we are going away to the seaside for a few days so not sure how much stitching I will get in but it is definitely coming with me.  According to the weather forecast for the East of England coast I am going to need my umbrella and thermal underwear but I am really looking forward to blowing the cobwebs away.

I also hope to start my SAL with Angela next week too but will tell you more about that next week.

Until next time, happy stitching and to all my friends in the path of Hurricane Sandy be safe.

IHSW

I am sure many of you will know it was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend organised by Joysze this weekend.  I sat down to finish my block on Michelle's Round Robin and have managed to finish it.  It is Little House Needleworks Home of the Needleworker Too.  I stitched about half of the house and the green leaf next to it.  I really enjoyed stitching this and thanks to Michelle for letting me.

Not quite sure what I am stitching on this week so it will be a surprise to me and you as it will depend on what calls the loudest.

Thank you to those that take the time of leave a comment and get well wishes for my hubby who has gone back to work today.  Am I allowed to say yay!  It was nice to have the house to myself for a couple of hours when I got home from work this afternoon lol but that doesn't mean to say I hope he didn't do too much at work and over exert himself.

Until next time, happy stitching

A RAK!

I received a surprise RAK, Random Act of Kindness, this week.  Th lovely Angela surprised me with this gorgeous Halloween pillow.  It is Fright Night by Lizzie Kate stitched on 32ct Pearl Grey Belfast Linen using the recommended DMC threads.  Isn't it gorgeous.  Thank you again Angela.  I am looking forward to putting it in pride of place when I get my Halloween decorations out and will treasure it always.

I thought I would also show a picture of my orts since I have again missed the TUSAL date and am posting late.

I am working away on Michelle's RR and hope to get it completed bearing in mind it is IHSW.  I hope everyone manages to get some stitches in.

Until next time, happy stitching

Halloween Finishes!

I have managed to finish two Halloween finishes this week and that is despite the fact that my husband had to go to hospital to have a camera in his stomach which lead to his appendix being removed.

Both of these were finished using the fabric in the background which I received as part of an exchange.  My finishing still needs LOTS of practice.

I have received Michelle's round robin so will be stitching on that whilst attending to my nursing duties.

Blue is the Colour!

Firstly, I want to thank everyone that left comments on my finish last week, I really appreciate them. I don't think I have ever had so many xx

I spent last week stitching on my hubby's Chelsea Football Club logo and spent a lot of time stitching blue, hence the title.  It is also the start of the song for the football club but I will spare you the rest of the verse.

I am quite pleased with my progress and quite enjoyed stitching on it but am glad to be stitching on something else this week.

I have decided this week to do some Halloween stitching so hope to have a couple of finishes to show you next time I post and I am going to try and actually finish finish them, fingers crossed.

Good Tidings Finished!

The Sampler Girl
Good Tidings to You
JCS Magazine 2011
Stitched on 32 ct Vintage Light Mocha
using recommended DMC Threads

Firstly I have to apologise for my upside down picture I can't figure out why it is like it.  It is not when I copy it over from my phone.  Again I have just to finish it into an ornament.  I enjoyed stitching this one.

I do have another couple of finishes but can't find my SD card that they are on.  They were both birthday presents.  Happy Birthday Elaine for last Friday and Angela  whose birthday it is today xx

I don't know if any of you have heard that Lizzie Kate is going to do a monthly ornament series next year.  I am seriously doomed and really looking forward to seeing them.  They will definitely going on my must stitch list for 2013.

I have been stitching on my hubby's CFC logo but will show that next week when I have stitched a bit more than just white.

Tusal - September

I am late, again, with my Tusal picture.  It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have the dates on my blog.  But here is my Tusal for September.  Mainly the orts added are from Ariadne who has seen a bit more progress this week but not enough to share a picture.  My stitching has been a bit intermittent this week and I haven't done much.  I couldn't stitch my ornament as I didn't have any suitable fabric but have now received that from Sew and So so will stitch that this week and my hubby's CFC logo will probably see some action too.   That's the plan but we will see.

I have attempted another finish and have attached a picture.  It is CCN's Merry and Bright finished as a flat ornament again using Angela's tutorial.  I do not like finishing particularly and it is not helped by the fact that I don't think I am much good at it either.

I had to give in and put the heating on this week as it has definitely turned colder in my neck of the woods.

I hope the pictures are okay as I had had to use my phone as my camera seems to have died.

Until next time, happy stitching xxx

Bad Blogger!

I meant to post last Sunday as the week before I had started my Chelsea Football Club logo for my husband but it is basically just white on white so not a lot to be seen.

Last week I stitched on Ariadne as it was SAL weekend and am quite pleased with my progress.  With a bit of stitching on it here and there during the past month I have nearly finished page 3.  This is what it looks like at the moment.

I really love stitching on this one and sometimes find it hard to work on other things but she has to go away for a while as I am stitching on my private exchange with Angela and then I have my September ornament to stitch for my SAL with Angela lol.  I am hoping to get some more done on my other HAED Mini Be Good for Goodness Sake as it would be really nice to have this up for Christmas.

Thank you to those who take the time to read my blog and leave comments, it is really appreciated.

Until next time, happy stitching

Lisa's Round Robin!

I spent last week stitching on Lisa Round Robin.  I enjoyed stitching this as it is completely different to what I normally stitch.  I have attached a picture of the block I stitched and the whole piece.

I am going to work on Ariadne (HAED) this week and then on Sunday I am hoping to start my husband's Chelsea Football Club logo, I don't think I will be able to put it off any longer.

August Ornie

I have spent the last week on and off stitching my August ornament SAL with Angela.  I decided to stitch Country Cottage Needleworks Merry and Bright.  Another piece I have really enjoyed especially since I loved the colours in this one.

I stitched this on a mystery 28ct light pink fabric, not that you can tell from my picture, using DMC threads.  I will finish this as a flat ornament when I have a f f f f finishing frenzy which needs to be soon as I have about five ornies to make up.

I am gong to work on Lisa's RR this week so will post a picture when I have done my block.

I don't know whether you have seen the new Lizzie Kate releases and the Little House Needleworks Ornament of the Month but I can tell you know they will be mine when they are available in the UK.

I also need to tell you that Sarah at Craftymoo is having a great giveaway so pop over and have a look.

A.W.O.L.

Both myself and my stitchy bug have been AWOL for the last month.  I had my new Olympic start and was really enjoying it but due to being so engrossed in the Olympics I haven't stitched as much as I would have liked.  Even whilst on holiday my stitchy bug didn't put in an appearance.  I have nearly finished page 1on Mini Rose by HAED but not quite but will show you a picture anyway.

I have to put this aside now as my husband has put his foot down with a firm hand and told me I HAVE to start his Chelsea Football Club logo or he is putting the Iron Maiden poster up in my front room especially since I have stitched for other people and not him.  So what's a girl to do.  So in the next couple of weeks I will be starting it after I have stitched my monthly ornament SAL with Angela and Lisa's RR that needs to be posted shortly.  At least I will have something to show you.

I am late again for my TUSAL but here its picture although there is not a lot of difference from last month.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to leave a comment.  I don't say thank you enough but it really does make my day and I do appreciate it.

Until next time, happy stitching

New Olympic Start!

A fellow stitcher on the HAED BB shared that it was a tradition of hers to start a new piece for the Olympics and there were quite a few ladies from some HAED Facebook groups that caught onto the idea and were starting something new.  Not me I thought I do not need a new start.  But my will power being what it is I found myself Friday afternoon going through my charts to see what threads I had for which chart.  It turned out I had quite a few of the threads needed for the first page for Mini Rose by Rachel Anderson.  So the idea is to work on this through the Olympics and have it finished by the next Olympics.

So here is what Mini Rose will look like when it is finished

and my progress so far

Not as much as I would have liked as I have been unwell with suspected food poisoning and for a couple of days didn't feel much like doing any but since I have taken my two boys clothes shopping today and as any mum of boys will tell you it is not fun I think I deserve an evening of stitching lol.

I would like to thank you all that left comments on my previous post it really meant a lot to me, thank you.

Until next time, happy stitching

A FINISH / TUSAL / IHSW

I forgot to sign up for IHSW but participated anyway.  I managed to finish my ornament, Little House Needleworks Cardinal Winter.

It is also time to show my TUSAL jar and this is what it looks like as of today.  I am a bit late with my photo though.

Unfortunately my stitching and commenting mojo went during the week after the sad news of my Uncle's death so I apologise if I haven't commented on your blog post.  I did read most of them but didn't really feel like commenting.  I have tried catching up since.  He was my mum's last living sibling so as you can imagine she is very devastated as she has lost both of her "baby" brothers in a very short time.

I have received two lovely RAKs this week which really made my day.  From Lesli I received HAED QS Midnight Tender which is one of my favourites as I love the colours.

The owner of Heaven and Earth Designs also sent me Mini Rose Angel, a chart that was on my wish list, as she has been sending as Freebie Fairy to a lot of ladies on Facebook.

I look forward to stitching both of these charts and feel very lucky indeed to have received them.  Thank you both.

It is the summer holidays now for my two boys and the sun has finally put in an appearance and we have had lovely weather the last couple of days, long may it continue.

I am off now to stitch on Ariadne, which I am finding very hard to put down.

Until next time, happy stitching

Page 2 Finished

I have finished page 2 of Ariadne (HAED).  I am really enjoying this project and find it very therapeutic.  Although my husband asked me if I was fed up with purple because he was lol.  He thinks I should be stitching blue for his Chelsea Football Club logo he is after.  Apparently I have stitched for everybody else and not him and this is his design of choice.  My youngest son then said he wanted a WWE logo.  I think I could be busy stitching christmas presents this year in secret.

I will be stitching on my ornament SAL with Angela this week and by some miracle I have also managed to tie it in with the Christmas All Year Round SAL that I joined back in January and haven't managed to complete one yet!

Well the weather here continues to be dismal but I am hoping as it is the school holidays and the Olympics soon that it will improve especially as we will be going on holiday for a week.

Until next time, happy stitching

Giveaway

I received a parcel from June today.  I won a giveaway on her blog.  Now I was very good and took a picture of it as I received it before I ripped the wrapping off.  I hope you appreciate the restraint I showed for you lol.

This is what I received.  Isn't it all gorgeous.  I look forward to using the fabric and finishing materials.  The lavender pillow is already on my bedside table.   I really LOVE it all June, thank you so very much.

Now I am sure if you have read June's blog you will now she loves her flowers so I thought I would show a picture of my water lily which is now in flower and I think it might be the first time it has done so.  It is in my Charlie Dimmock inspired water feature which my boys call my bucket in the gravel lol.

Thank you again June.

I am stitching on my HAED Ariadne and am hoping to finish page two this week so fingers crossed for me.

I did it!

I have finally attempted a flat ornament finish with the help of Angela's tutorial and words of support.

The design I used was Feelin Festive by Lizzie Kate.  I am to say I am pretty chuffed with how it turned out especially for a first attempt and especially considering how messy I got with the glue lol.

This is the back of the finish.  I thought the backing fabric was perfect for it although it took a bit of time getting the reindeer in roughly the right place.

I am currently stitching on my HAED Ariadne and will show a picture next week after the SAL I am in.

Angela's Round Robin

I have just nipped outside before it rains to take a picture of Angela's Round Robin block that I finished this week.  It is a Blue Ribbon Design called Black Cats and Flying Bats.  I couldn't manage to get a picture of the whole piece as my photographic skills and are not brilliant and I am not the tallest person in the world but here is a picture of the block I have stitched.  I have to say it was a lovely stitch apart from the fractional stitches which gave me a bit of a headache but I think it looks okay and I hope Angela likes it.

I will be stitching on my HAED Ariadne this week for the SAL I am in so will post a picture soon.

June Tusal

I am a bit late posting my Tusal for June but here it is.  I now have two jars, one in the front room where I do most of my stitching and one in the dining room where I stitch when my husband is fed up of watching the tennis which is on a lot with the TV channel Eurosport obviously this is now my favourite TV channel lol.

I have just taken the photo in between the rain down pours.

I am trying to come up with a rotation for myself as I am in a bit of a dilemma.  I want to stitch on my HAED but I also want to stitch the other charts I have in my stash mostly CCN/LHN and Lizzie Kate.  I think I will probably go back to stitching a weekly rotation but if you have any ideas they would be very much appreciated.

Until next time, happy stitching

Winner / IHSW / Finish

I hope you all had a fantastic International Hermitt and Stitch Weekend.  I know I did.  I managed to start and finish my monthly ornament SAL with Angela.  It is Plum Puddings Needleart Candy Cane Wishes

I haven't showed my May ornament which came from the same chart.  Sorry the picture is a bit blurry - not sure why.  I will stitch the final one from the chart, the Gingerbread Man, and then finish them all together which I am really looking forward to, not.  You know by now finishing is not my favourite thing lol.

I got a lovely surprise in the post this week from June who had finished LHNs Gingerbread Village with the lovely material you see in the picture.  I asked her where she had got it from and she very kindly sent me what she had left as well as some ribbon and buttons.  Thank you so much June.

This is the card June sent which I thought was gorgeous too.

Now for my giveaway.   I counted the number of comments for the giveaway, 28, and put them in the random organiser.  It chose number 16 which is Delphyne, congratulations.  Can you email me you snail mail address and I will put the chart plus a couple of LHNs in the post to you.  Thank you to everyone who entered I only wish I could send you all something because I really appreciate all your visits and comments they really make my day and to know people like my stitching is magical.

I hope you all have a lovely stitchy week.  I am not sure what I will be stitching this week as I am torn between working some more on my HAED or stitching one of the many LHN/CCN charts I have but whatever I stitch I will show you next week.

I am a bit behind on my blog reading but hoping to catch up this week so if you haven't had a comment from me and usually do I will be doing shortly.

Until next time, happy stitching
