Thank You / Finishes / Progress

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to Nia for the lovely gift she sent me following her 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway. I made Nia laugh with a comment I made on taking photographs. Thank you Nia I look forward to using the trims and the snowmen.

Next up is my progress with Retro Lady. I came to an abrupt halt on Thursday when I ran out of 3865. Luckily my husband works next to a chemist that sells DMC threads so I can carry on with it on Monday as he has picked some up for me.

Since I needed something to stitch on Thursday and Friday night I started a new ornament. Midnight Stitching's Snowman's Quaker Christmas. I stitched it on 28ct Mushroom Lugana using Crescent Colours Blue Jeans and DMC threads as suggested. I loved stitching this for Angela, my stitching sister, so decided to stitch another. I even managed to finish it up on Saturday night. I am not very confident with my finishing skills and am not too sure I even like finishing lol but I will keep trying and hopefully my skills will get better.

Talking of finishing, I also finished Britty Kitty I stitched last weekend. I was hoping to make a flat ornament for this one but my stanley knife and I couldn't seem to cut a straight line, never mind two lol. I think I will ask my Dad to cut my mount board next time. Again my lack of finishing skills shows a bit on this one but just don't look too closely.

I am off to stitch another ornament from the JCS magazine.

Until next time, happy stitching

Lesleyanne xx

Your finishing looks lovely. I know I struggle sometimes but honestly, home made beats bought anytime. If I make a booboo I tell myself it is an ~Amish mistake...only God is perfect, lol. And the more you do, the better you get. They look wonderful to me and I am sure they will be much loved xx

Your ornies are just fab! I love the colors and your finishing touches look perfect to me...you are so talented, Lesleyanne, but I am totally the same way about my finishing skills, which is why I am not in any ornie exchanges, LOL.

Lovely finishes. Your ornaments look beautiful. I do find that we are overly critical of our own work and that can sometimes hold us back. You did a wonderful job!

What a nice gift from that dear Nia--she really is a sweetie :)

And nice to have your husband work so close to a DMC vendor!! Very handy at times...

Your ornaments are lovely, Lesleyanne. I agree with others--we are all overly critical of our work. For as many ornaments as I've done, I still get nervous about finishing them and my eye always goes right to what I perceive as the mistakes. In reality, no one else probably notices...

I do love your little snowman in blue. I've stitched him before, but might make a few others as gifts. I just love his dear face :)

The ornaments looks fab Lesleyanne! I too love the tassel at on the Britty Kitty. As others have said we are all overly critical of our own finishing, and yes, that even includes me (which you know). LOL.

Great progress on your lady and I adore the gift from Nia :)

Very pretty finishes Lesleyanne.
I have seen that little snowman on so many blogs and each time I do I remind myself I'd love to stitch it one of these days.
Great progress on the WIP and lovely gifts received too.
I used to get my husband to cut the mount board with a stanley knife but he never got it to my satisfaction.
Now I use a really strong pair of kitchen scissors and that works well for me.
