Aaargh!

I want to thank you all for your kind comments regarding my finishing - I really appreciated them and I will continue in the hope my skills improve.

I have to say that I sometimes wonder why I cross stitch. I have had a terrible week with Retro Lady - not enough stitching time and what I did do I had to unpick again. It is obvious I can't count and I can't follow a pattern even though I do highlight my working copy as I go along. So here is this week's pitiful progress. I do find I am struggling with the colour chart so will carry on this week and if I do still struggle at night, when I do most of my stitching, I will swap to my Vervaco lady until the summer when the nights are longer as hopefully this will help with the reading of the charts.

On a brighter note I did manage another ornament finish. It is a Blackbird Designs design called Floral Gift from the JCS magazine 2010 Christmas Special. I didn't stitch the border and changed the year for another bird. I haven't decided how I am going to finish this yet.

Stitched on 32ct Antique White Jobelan
using DMC Threads

When I finished this ornament Sunday Evening I tried to pick another one but every ornament I picked up I was at least one or two threads missing so I am off now to try a new LNS which provides the threads already on bobbins, yay.

Until next time, happy stitching

Lesleyanne

Sorry to hear you are struggling with the chart, have you tried griding your fabric to match your chart grid? May help with the counting issues x

I always find that if I make a mistakeon apiece - there's never just one mistake - I seem to be doomed with it! Love your BBD design xx

We all have to frog at some point. I was at it last night and so close to the finish too! Your BBD finish is lovely. Very pretty. xx

I think we all have times where we seem to make no progress, stick at it, and also a great idea to move to something else if the frogs persist. This hobby of ours is supposed to be fun after all! LOL
I really love your Blackbird Designs finish, I have this on my 'to stitch' list :-)
Threads already on bobbins sounds good, but I do admit I really enjoy winding onto bobbins, sad aren't I!

Sometimes a design just seems fated to send you wrong, stick at it, you'll get there.
Lovely ornament

Sorry to hear retro lady is giving you soooo much trouble. Hopefully the frogs will steer clear on the Atlantic too!

Love the BBD finish :)

If that happens to me I put my stitching away and pick it up later in the week on a day when I have nothing to do and re look at it and get it sorted.
I then go back to other stitching for a bit. A new day makes a bad day ok in the end.

Super ornament, how exciting tohave a new LNS, hope you don't spend a fortune in there. Sone projects are better left and return to them another time.

I feel your pain Lesleyanne - I too am struggling with my BAP. I think I''m only going to stitch it through the day and then have a different project for the evenings...preferable something with a huge thread count and bright colours!

I think we all go through times when it seems whatever we stitch, we then unstitch. Keep with it. It will be a beautiful piece. Your ornament is precious.

What a shame you've had a bad week with the stitching.
It's probably a good idea to put it away for a while.
On the other hand you have a beautiful finish there.

Lovely ornament finish.
Threads on bobbins - you'll have tolet us know how that works out.
Some patterns are destined to be bothersome, don't despair too much.

This has been a great year for that darn frog. Seems like I've been reading a lot over the last few weeks about its visits, and it stopped over at my place last night too! BAH!!!

Ooooh cute finish of Floral Gift. :D

Those frogs are out in gang loads at the moment and seem intent on visiting all of us!
Good idea to put Retro Lady aside and take a break, I'm sure that will help.
Sweet ornament and lovely colours and I know you WILL make a good finish for it and that's why you should 'bother' to cross stitch xxx

Love your ornie finish! Beautiful beautiful beautiful! Don't be upset with the counting, I've been there too (hence my "frogger" name!) I have found that I've frogged much less since I started gridding my fabric!! Hope you're doing well! :)

You have to clear your mind from everything, when you're stitching don't think on life stuff our daily things ;) that helps to stay focus on your count and don't get it wrong heheheh also helps us to relax from our daily routine :)

Your finish looks so pretty!! Congrats sweetie!! :D

Your BBD ornament turned out really pretty!

I have problems with colour charts too, I just find them really hard to read. Putting Retro Lady away until the lighter evenings is a good plan. Love your ornament!

Carol said...

Oh, I love that ornament and the changes you've made to it, Lesleyanne!! Makes me want to pull out my magazine and stitch it exactly the same :)

Your stitching is lovely, you might find a magnifying glass for the evenings is what you need. I love mine and it means I can stitch even when the lightening is that bright.
Enjoy what ever you're doing..
Happy Days
